GUWAHATI, November 3: Assam Prime Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has called on state police to take action against those who spread rumors through a fake Twitter post with the Prime Minister’s name and picture that “the Ministry of Education is closing schools and colleges “. November 20th due to increasing COVID-19 cases. “

“There is a FAKE tweet floating around with my name saying that since the rise in cases of COVID-19, schools and colleges will be closed from November 20th. This is FALSE and should not be taken into account. Stay away from misinformation and fake news. I advise the Assam police to take note of this and act, ”the Prime Minister tweeted on Wednesday.

The fake post circulating on social media contained several grammatical and spelling errors.

It should be noted that schools and colleges across Assam were gradually reopening from September after five months of closure in the face of the second wave of the pandemic.

The Assam cabinet had decided to stop offline lessons for 10th grade students from September 20th.

As the state’s COVID-19 situation improves, classes for Grade XII and senior and post graduate students in schools, colleges and universities have resumed from September 6th.

As of October 19, offline lessons for students in grades I to VIII were resumed in Assam.

Lessons in the lower primary level (grades I to V) and the upper primary level (grades VI to VIII) in both state and private schools take place three days a week.
