Apple plans to expand its advertising business – FT

April 22 (Reuters) – Apple Inc (AAPL.O) plans to expand its advertising business by adding a second advertising slot to the “recommended” section of its App Store search page, the Financial Times reported Thursday.

The new ad slot, which will be rolled out by the end of the month, will allow advertisers to promote their apps across the network rather than responding to specific searches, the report said. (https://on.ft.com/3sG7Ikn)

The report comes as Apple plans to send calls to iPhone users to allow apps to use their data for personalized advertising, a move that has met backlash from tech rival Facebook Inc (FB.O), which argues that the Changes to the social media company will harm the advertising business.
