Demands on Governor Reeves for mask mandates are no longer a public health issue Mississippi Politics and News

The brand is a crisis, not an improvement in results.

The Mississippi media establishment groans and whines wholeheartedly that Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves should use his “brawler pulpit” more than encouraging citizens to get their COVID vaccines.

A fourth wave of COVID. Children die. Many more adults die after many adults die. Parents, teachers, students anxious and insecure. Misinformation. Political stance.

It didn’t have to be like that. It doesn’t have to be that way. Https://t.co/CpM77IKuuU

This is a moronic and demonstrably biased headline from Mississippi Today. But they’re not the only ones carrying out such bleak attacks

Regardless of the fact that Governor Reeves made the vaccine public, literally spent hundreds of hours in public press conferences extolling the safety and effectiveness of vaccines, and continued to publicly promote the vaccine.

For many media outlets in Mississippi and beyond, public health was no longer an issue here. This is all about politics and the signaling of virtues. At this point in time, the media establishment is using COVID like a political hammer for its partisan ends.

COVID is a terrible thing, but it is now clear that there will be no such thing as “Zero COVID”. With this we have to learn to live very clearly for the perceptible future.

We are now officially past the point where hypocritical waving of the finger marked with the blue check mark will move the needle with the unvaccinated or with officials they disagree with. COVID has been politicized and the mainstream media establishment is most guilty. Yelling at people that they are idiots for not getting vaccinated not only doesn’t work – it now has the opposite effect.

The bottom line is that the media establishment is committed and determined to politicize this pandemic. To be honest, it costs as many, if not more, lives as the governor “without using his bullying pulpit”. However, you are too blind and self-righteous to see this truth.

Perhaps some of these media types and their supporters will get into a political race instead of openly fighting conservatives through their media in 2023.

Again, like Governor Reeves and public health officials, I was vaccinated and will live like that … just like I have done with other vaccines all my life. I know the risks and have weighed the costs.

COVID vaccines are medical miracles, but what is happening is not a government failure. The government introduced the vaccines for free and made them available to anyone who wants one. Anyone who wants a shot has had plenty of time to get one.

The mainstream media has a savior complex, and the hard truth is, it didn’t deserve the public’s trust. As we mentioned last week, Conservatives have a 10% approval rating for the media across the country. This plays into the argument. In addition, it is not only conservatives who cannot be vaccinated. Large urban centers like New York (once the epicenter of the pandemic), Chicago, and LA all have vaccination rates below 50%.

Governor Reeves has learned a lot over the past year. In his first 18 months in office, he was hit by more natural and man-made disasters than any other governor. He has publicly expressed his regret that he has agreed to close parts of the economy for a period and that he has dealt with the orders of the executive a little more clumsily than he would have wished in retrospect. Looking back is always 20-20.

By then, Governor Reeves appears to have decided that Mississippi residents have the data, resources, and information they need to make their own decisions about COVID. That’s not bad. The real role of the government now is to make the vaccine available and make sure people know it is accessible and safe.

“The fact is, every single Mississippi has had the opportunity to get the vaccine,” Reeves told reporters two weeks ago. “There are some who have decided against it. I encourage them to do so. “

Unless the federal government sends troops and uses weapons forcibly, it is up to the individual to make these calls. No shaming of people’s intelligence in any way, or blaming or banning Facebook comments, is going to become a bunch of beans at this point, and neither is celebrity or political endorsement.

For media affinity with mask requirements and other restrictions, think about it.

The CDC reports that the effectiveness of the flu vaccine reduces the risk of disease in the general population by 40 to 60% during the times of the year when most circulating flu viruses are well-coordinated with the flu vaccine.

The CDC also reports that the two-dose vaccine for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) is 97% effective against measles and 88% effective against mumps.

Compared to COVID-19, the vaccine effectiveness reported by Pfizer is 95%. Modernas is 94% and Johnson & Johnson 66%. Some reports now say that the effectiveness of this delta variant is reduced by a few percentage points and a booster may be required. So be it.

Children 12 years and older can receive the Pfizer COVID vaccine, and even if they don’t, they are statistically unlikely to get an overly problematic form of COVID study.

This means that the messages of the Biden administration, MSDH, CDC, teachers unions and other groups, students – even those who have been vaccinated – have to wear masks this school year are a farce and not follow science as they are others are so quick to accuse of doing so while calling by their names anyone who questions them, further weakening efforts to increase vaccination rates.

The same goes for the general population.

If you are vaccinated, live as you did with any other vaccination. Be smart and do what is right for you and your family.

Can you still get COVID? Unfortunately yes. But before all this hype, and even today, you could still get flu, measles, mumps and other diseases despite being vaccinated.

In addition, the studies showed that all three vaccines were 100% effective in preventing serious illnesses six weeks after the first dose (for Moderna) or seven weeks after the first dose (for Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson).

Enough of the mixed messages, flip-flops and unscientific, unnecessary mandates, and enough with the left and holier-than-you media trying to use COVID for the benefit of their donors and corporations to urge Governor Reeves into authoritarian action persuade, it is not scientifically founded.

It is time for the media and public health officials to take a good, long look at their activities. If they want the public health goals they are striving for, they have to openly admit that what is being done is not working, and that is largely up to them. Perhaps try empathy and a sincere desire to help people instead of playing politics or signs of virtue for their media and left-wing friends.
