Union leaders also spoke out in favor of the tax. “For decades, social media mega-corporations and technology giants like Google and Amazon have grown exponentially by collecting personal data and leveraging government infrastructure without contributing to Connecticut taxpayers,” Sal Luciano, president of the Connecticut AFL-CIO, said in one written testimony to the finance committee.
